P. Kulkarni article in "A Journey from Bombaim to Mumbai"), test marks, about very fine, Extremely Rare.

Note: Interestingly, as stated in the article "A Journey from Bombaim to Mumbai", the above coin is believed to have been minted in Mumbai during the reign of Charles II. However, Paul Stevens has demonstrated that this is not the case. In Pridmore's view, the Surat Council's comment regarding the inscription 'Charles the second, King of England' may indicate that while the obverse was etched in Anglina, the reverse was etched in Persian. Considering the inscriptions on both sides of the coin, it is very likely that they are Persian translations of Western languages. It can thus be concluded that the coin was produced by a foreign power. This coin appears to bear something like '...dej' at the bottom of its obverse inscription, which might be related to 'Walandej', the Persianate term describing the Dutch.
